I am a native of Boston, born and raised in Everett Massachusetts.  Currently I reside in Saugus Ma.  As a child, I remember being doted over for my artistic abilities.  In fourth grade, my mom was called into class to see an extraordinary pot of flowers I had painted.  Everett’s school system did not offer much in the way of Art, nor did I ever imagine that I could make a living doing something I enjoy so much.  I’d like to share a great story with you.

Upon graduating High School, I was working in a local restaurant, where I was called upon, periodically, to paint there windows for holidays.  One day a local photographer, named Bruce Nordell of Nordell Studio’s in Everett, came in and watched me paint.  He asked if I got paid to do this work and I replied “no it’s just for fun, I’m an employee.”  This was the turning point of my life.  Bruce began explaining that I should go to college for Art.  I told him I didn’t think it was possible for I had never taken SAT’s.  He then informed me that his college The Art Institute of Boston (where he studied photography) was a private institution and they did not require SAT’s.   He also advised me to go back to my High School and see if they could help me proceed in this direction, so I did.  Two years after graduating, I returned back to my high school and asked for help.  I took a night course in drawing to build a portfolio and lo and behold I became a student of The Art Institute of Boston, all because this perfect stranger cared enough to take time and give me advice.  I owe Bruce a lot of thanks, and have visited him on several occasions to share my progress.

I graduated from The Art Institute of Boston as an Illustrator.  I worked for1year in an in-house art department and then began my free-lance career acquiring work from areas of the business such as advertising, publishing and the greeting card industry.  Portraits have always been a strong point for me.  Although I am an accomplished Illustrator, I have always had a particular interest in 3-D form.  For years I quenched this creative thirst by designing outrageous 3-D Halloween costumes out of foam core and corrugated.  I was never able to sit down in them and sometimes it was difficult to win prizes because, usually, I was accused of having rented these costumes.  Imagine a 10ft 3-D replica of a trophy showing up at your party with Pee Wee Herman sitting at the top eating popcorn and two human, bronzed heads protruding thru the enclosed pillars on each side.  As an Artist, as well as in life, being versatile is who I am.  It keeps my creative fresh and always explorative.  I am an Artist in the truest sense of word…Creative in many ways…and thankful every day for this gift.  For several years, I have been apprenticing, and learning the Art and business of Sand Sculpting with www.fitzysnowman.com. It is an Amazing form of Art.  My career as an Artist has taken many twists and turns and all with purpose.

Currently, I am freelancing my Illustration and pursuing avenues to which I can get my Unique 3-D Card Holders into production.  I am also on a steady, explorative path of creating new and innovative ways to combine my Illustration and 3-D Creative together.
